At HEAL, we believe in treatments that are as thoughtful as they are effective. As we continue to grow our clinical, results driven approach to aesthetics in Palmetto Bay, we want to introduce you to a name you will be hearing more of soon: XEOMIN.

If you have ever looked into smoothing frown lines or softening the creases that show up with every expression, you have probably come across the world of neurotoxins. XEOMIN is one of them, and it has a quality that sets it apart. Here is what it is, how it works, and why we are excited about it.

What is XEOMIN?

XEOMIN (incobotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA approved botulinum toxin type A made by Merz Aesthetics. Like other neurotoxins, it works by gently and temporarily relaxing the specific muscles responsible for certain facial expressions. When those muscles soften, the lines they create soften too, leaving you looking refreshed and rested rather than frozen.

It is the same category of treatment many people know by other brand names, but XEOMIN has a distinct difference in how it is made.

What makes XEOMIN different

Most neurotoxins contain the active ingredient plus surrounding accessory proteins, sometimes called complexing proteins. XEOMIN is the only commercially available botulinum toxin type A that is purified to remove those extra proteins, leaving only the active molecule. For this reason it is often described as a pure or naked toxin.

Why does that matter? The active ingredient is what does the work. The accessory proteins do not add to the result, and some research suggests that a higher foreign protein load may contribute to an immune response in certain people over time, which can make a treatment feel less effective. By delivering only the active neurotoxin, XEOMIN keeps that extra protein load to a minimum.

We want to be clear and honest here: this is a meaningful difference in how the product is formulated, not a promise of a specific outcome for every person. What it reflects is a clean, considered approach, which is exactly the kind of detail that fits how we practice at HEAL.

What XEOMIN treats

XEOMIN was first FDA approved in 2011 for moderate to severe frown lines, the vertical creases that form between the brows. More recently it became the first and only neurotoxin approved for treating the upper face in a single session, meaning it can address:

  • Frown lines between the brows

  • Horizontal forehead lines

  • Crow's feet at the corners of the eyes

That makes it a versatile option for the areas where expression lines tend to show first.

What to expect

One of the things people appreciate about XEOMIN is how it fits into real life. The treatment itself is quick, usually just a few small injections, with little to no downtime afterward.

Most people begin to notice results within one to three days, with the full effect settling in over about two weeks. Results typically last around three to four months before gradually and naturally wearing off, at which point you can choose to maintain them.

The goal is never a stiff or overdone look. Done well, XEOMIN softens what you want softened while keeping your face expressive and unmistakably you.

Who it is for

XEOMIN can be a good fit for adults who want to soften expression lines or take a preventative approach before deeper lines set in. As with any medical treatment, it is not right for everyone, and the only way to know if it suits you is a proper consultation.

That is where the setting matters. A neurotoxin is a medical treatment, and the experience and judgment of the person administering it shape your result and your safety. At HEAL, your care is guided by a nurse practitioner, with a clinical eye on facial anatomy, dosing, and what will look natural for you. We treat these appointments as the medical visits they are, not an afterthought.
